In late March and early April Vice Chair Aaron Flach appeared before the Village and Town Boards requesting pursuit of joint comprehensive planning by the two municipalities. This move was encouraged by RCS CBA's new Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC), which had its first meeting on Monday, March 25.
EDAC provides advice and ideas to our local leadership on viable courses of action to revitalize economic development in the RCS business districts. The committee explores attracting new businesses to the area, maximizing the potential for business already located in RCS, identifies shovel ready sites, and examines possible grants as well as economic development incentives, just to name a few.
The committee was formed by the Board of RCS CBA to ensure economic development was a top priority for the group. Serving on the committee are: Dr. Brian Bailey, RCSCSD; Linda Bruno, STARS Intergen; John Cashin, Town of Coeymans; Aaron Flach (chair), RCS CBA Board of Directors and Flach Development; Rebecca Flach, RCS CBA Board of Directors and Hope Full Life Center; Glenn Lasher, retired business owner; Marlene McTigue, Columbia Greene Media; Linda Muller, Village of Ravena; Kathi Palmer, Real Estate Holding Co. and Rick Touchette, Albany County Legislator.
You can read the minutes of the EDAC's first meeting and keep track of its activities here. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday. May 20 at 3:30 at Village Hall.
