RCS CBA: What is the name and nature of your business? Christine Hansen (CH): My business is Spirit Trading Company and our aim is to “Lift Your Spirit” or the Spirit of someone you love with our crystal-infused Spirit candles, specialty cut flowers, apothecary, crystals, bath & body items and specialized gift of Spirit. Soon we will be hosting intimate classes and workshops to bring together community with the aim always being to bring joy while celebrating self and Spirit!
RCS CBA: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your backstory. CH: I'm an event producer by trade, and I am the President & CEO of Thirty-Three Productions, Inc., Spirit's parent production company. Spirit's roots are founded in humanitarianism. I have worked on production projects with leading philanthropic organizations including The Nelson Mandela Foundation; 46664, The Clinton Foundation Millennium Network; The Entertainment Industry Foundation; Global Green; A Place Called Home; Hope’s Voice International; After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles; the United Nations Association; Rock the Vote and more.
In the same vein of seeking to promote the welfare of others, Spirit was born. At Spirit, we offer personal wellness experiences through our thoughtfully curated products and events. RCS CBA: Why did you choose to locate your business in the RCS area? CH: I have always loved the Hudson Valley as I did a house share here with friends for years when I lived in the city. Those are some of my favorite memories. When I was thinking about where I wanted to plant my roots for the rest of my life, this place just has a special place in my soul and it was a matter of finding a property with the charm and space to plant my seeds and could grow my dreams with me. I fell in love with the area for its country charm, access to beautiful nature, and adjacency to cities. RCS CBA: What do you love most about Spirit Trading Company and the work you do?
CH: My aim is to Lift Your Spirit and it is an honor to create and grow products that people buy to celebrate themselves or someone they love. Sometimes it is to support someone going through a hard time. Sometimes it is for a happy occasion. Sometimes, it's a personal reminder to stop and take some time for yourself. I love to create memorable experiences for people, whether they be in person or for a personal moment of reflection and rejuvenation.
RCS CBA: Your website states that your mantra is “Dreams to Reality”. Can you tell us what that means for you and your business? CH: I believe if you dream it, you are meant to live it…. and I love the process of taking a dream into real form. It is a lot of planning and hard work, but as one who comes a very hard working blue-collar family, I know that with dedication and unwavering focus, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. I have dedicated my life to realizing dreams for myself and others… and I will continue to do so for all of my days. RCS CBA: Why did you join the RCS CBA, and what can the association do for you? CH: I want to be able to meet, connect and collaborate with the local community and to garner community support for my small and growing business. RCS CBA: Any final thoughts?
CH: This summer, we built our Spirit Shoppe farm store on site at 1259 Aquetuck Rd in Ravena. We are always available by appointment and are available most days and many weekends if we are not at an event. Or you can shop online at and choose local pickup.
