RCS CBA Represents: CA Albright & Sons

Welcome to RCS CBA Represents, an occasional series featuring our members. Today we're talking with Randy Lent from CA Albright & Sons.

1. What’s your name, and what is your business?

I’m Randy Lent from CA Albright & Sons. Clarence Albright was my great grandfather - he started the business in 1911. It was originally a Ford dealership and we also sold coal. We’ve always done automotive and fuel. Additionally, we used to have a stock car in New Lebanon Speedway.

2. Tell us a little about yourself.

I went to school at Coxsackie Athens and then Ohio Diesel Tech to become a diesel mechanic, and then went to work for Francisco Equipment. I’ve worked at CA Albright since I was a teen working Saturdays- I worked Saturdays from then until just a few years ago. After Francisco’s, I took a job with the Thruway Authority and then went to work for RCS Schools as a diesel mechanic. I took over CA Albright in 2010. We have an automotive shop, HVAC, water systems and an oil and propane side. We also deliver off-road and on-road fuel. In September 2020 we started the propane division. We have recently added the sales of Cummins generators and propane cylinder refills for gas grills.

3. Why did you choose RCS to locate your business.

We’re the main business in the Town of New Baltimore and we’re in a really visible location. Before the thruway came in, this was the only road.

4. What do you love most about what you do?

I meet different people every day and 99% of them are great. And we also get to help people. I once helped a family whose car had broken down, and I put them in our van and drove them to Connecticut.

5. Why did you join RCS CBA, and what can the association do for you?

I joined RCS CBA to meet more people and keep our name out there. I’m also on the Board of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce and I was their 2016 Businessman of the Year.

6. Final Thoughts?

The 5th generation is working here now and we’re looking forward to having the 6th generation (currently 14, 8, and 7year olds) join us in the not too distant future.
