Ravena Coeymans Selkirk will soon have its very own Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Center for community children. The Innovation Station is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit center that provides extra-curricular science and technology programs to elementary and middle school students.
The mission of the Innovation Station is to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields through participation in the FIRST global robotics community and science-based programs that build critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills. This is a mission that will serve us all as we continue to work toward the growth and prosperity of our community, not only by enriching our children but also by helping to develop a more highly-skilled, robust local workforce.
The programs begin this fall with 12 FIRST teams signed up and 57 kids (ages pre-k through high school). This is really quite amazing! Here at the CBA, we see the value of this programming and we think our member businesses will too. This is a long-term investment opportunity that you can be part of right now. Thank you to member (and non-member) businesses who have already invested in this amazing opportunity for our kids including Mueller’s Automotive, Rail to River, National Bank of Coxsackie, Plug, GE, the RCS Community Library, and many more.
